Fast Internet Access With Wireless Internet Services
Once hooked up, you’ll need to make sure your wireless internet service is functioning as fast as it can. Right now you can connect up to 2 mbps with most wireless online internet services.
In the near future, Comcast internet service is bringing us a new technology called WiMAX, which will connect us up to 7 mbps and allow us the ability to take our internet service anywhere outside the home! Wireless internet is certainly an exciting study that is bound to give mobile phone users a run for their money.

To get wireless service, you will need to meet a few basic requirements. First, and most obviously, you must have a laptop computer with a wireless adapter installed, which is standard in nearly every new machine.
You can also hook up to a local WiFi network if you have a desktop computer with a wireless network adapter (either an add-in card, a USB port plug-in or a bridge connector). The Linksys brand has a lot of quality products to bring your desktop up to par.
Cell phones and PDAs can also link up with a wireless free internet service. Next, you’ll need to subscribe to a high speed DSL internet service in your area, unless you happen to be situated near one of the free wireless “hotspots.” Often your computer will be able to locate WiFi hot spot locations if they’re around.

For the fastest wireless internet service, you should place your wireless router in a central, unobstructed location. If you and your computer are always in the same location, then you may want to consider upgrading your wireless router antenna as well.
Most routers are shipped with small, multi-directional antennas, which broadcast signals every which way but with a short range. By contrast, a directional antenna focuses the signal and amplifies the speed. Another option is to purchase a wireless repeater, which is a safe and easy way to boost your existing signal. The best way to improve your online internet services is simply to disconnect from the network on your computer, go to the router, turn it completely off for thirty seconds, then turn it back on and use a pen to press in the “reset” button.
There’s still much room to improve wireless internet service. Currently, US internet services providers offer wireless at 384 kbps to 2 mbps, which is 35 times faster than basic dial up access. Even so, countries like Japan, Korea, Malaysia, England and Austria have much faster connection speeds of 7.2 mbps.

Over the next few months, Comcast internet service will include the new WiMAX, which will deliver wireless internet at 7 Mbps. Additionally, you’ll be able to take your laptop all over town with you, without worrying about migrating away from your internet service provider’s range!
Currently, it’s only available in Portland and Baltimore, but new cities will be added throughout 2010.
